2018 Barolo, Diego Conterno

From four vineyards in Monforte, this has a lovely nose with floral notes, violets and rose petal with great warmth and generosity. The palate is quite broad and approachable, creamy textured with lovely balancing acidity. The finish is chiselled, but quite easy going. Drink 2022-2030

Vinous

The 2018 Barolo is a very pretty wine to drink now and over the next handful of years. Crushed flowers, sweet dried fruit, mint, spice and licorice are all nicely lifted. The straight Barolo is a terrific wine for the vintage, within the context of what was possible. This Barolo is a blend from Le Coste, San Giovanni and Perno, all vineyards in Monforte.

Vinous

The 2018 Barolo is relatively soft (for a Monforte Barolo), aromatic and ready to provide pleasure with minimal cellaring. Spice, cedar, tobacco, incense and dark red fruit all meld together nicely in this attractive Barolo from Diego Conterno. All the elements are so well-balanced
