2015 Les Allees de Cantemerle, Chateau Cantemerle

Deep ruby with hints of brick. The nose shows black cherry, cassis and cigar box aromas. The palate is medium bodied, well rounded and supple, with red and black fruits, a little spice and rich, ripe tannins.

Sweet red cherry and plum fruit give the 2015 Les Alles de Cantemerle its attractive, juicy personality. Pliant and supple, the 2015 is a terrific choice for drinking over the next few years. A host of floral/savory notes appear on the finish, adding lift and brightness.

The 2015 Allées de Cantemerle has a very refined and delineated bouquet with blackberry, crushed stone and light mint aromas – quite Pauillac in style. The palate is medium-bodied with supple tannin, a little raw at the moment but it will mesh together. There is a fine spiciness/white pepper note on the finish. What an outstanding second wine. Tasted blind at the Southwold 2015 Bordeaux tasting.

The 2015 Allées de Cantemerle seems to have more complexity than its peers. The palate is medium-bodied with sappy black fruit and fine acidity. This is a “solid” claret with insistent grip on the sapid finish. It should age with style and panache. Tasted blind at the 2015 Bordeaux Ten-Year-On tasting at Farr Vintners.
