2022 Chardonnay, Pierro Vineyards

Rich straw coloured, the nose is lush and forward, with citrus, mandarin and oatmeal notes. Complex and multi layered, the palate shows fine texture, well judged oak and fabulous persistence.

Decanter

Within the power, fruit volume and oak there’s plenty of detail and beauty. Fruit is ripe and concentrated, Gingin clone acid tempered by glossy tannins. Flavours of saltbush, orange blossom, lemon pith, spice and lemon glaze. Flint and crushed rock minerality follow the fruit. Oak tannins, a plush, velvety mouthfeel and opulence lead to a long finish. Pierro is synonymous with Margaret River Chardonnay and Mike Peterkin’s wines have etched themselves into the fabric of the region. Wilyabrup fruit, 90% Gingin clone, multiple hand picks and whole-bunch pressed into French barrique for fortnightly lees stirring over 12 months with full malolactic.
