Castel Faglia

Named after the ancient Castle that dominates the estate, Faglia is today owned and run by the Cavicchioli family, renowned in Italy for producing some of the greatest wines made in Lambrusco. There are 17 hectares under vine – Chardonnay, Pinot Nero and Pinot Bianco and the finest fruit goes into the ‘Monogram’ range of wines, which are designed for extended ageing. The winemaker is Sandro Cavicchioli who makes the vintage brut from Chardonnay with just a touch of Pinot Bianco, spending four years on its lees, and the Zero Dosage wine from Chardonnay with a small amount of Pinot Nero. This is bone dry but has enough richness to balance the austerity.
