Chateau Lafite Rothschild

This first growth was largely put together in the late 17th century and has been in the Rothschild family since 1868. At 112 hectares it is one of the largest proprties in the Médoc and produces around 40,000 cases each year. The vineyards sit on a deep gravel bed and are planted to 70% Cabernet Sauvignon and 25% Merlot, however the grand vin generally consists of 80-90% Cabernet. Lafite is known for the finesse and elegance of its wines which can age beautifully for decades.
