Cockburn

Scotsmen Robert and John Cockburn founded their eponymous port shipper in 1815 and by the early 20th century it was perhaps the most prized shipper of all. Sold in 1962 to Harvey’s of Bristol, the house focused on its special reserve and its vintage ports were of indifferent quality until 2006 when it came under control of the Symington family (who purchased it outright in 2010). The heart of their ports is the 100 ha of vines at Quinta dos Canais and the vintage wines are known for their floral character and power.
