Far Niente

One of the oldest wineries in the Napa, Far Niente was founded in 1885, but it was abandoned during prohibition in the 1920s. In 1879 Gil Nickel bought the estate and returned it to use by 1982, passing control to his children, who in 2016 sold a majority stake to GI Partners. There are two Cabernet vineyards in Oakville totalling 40 hectares and a 40 hectare Chardonnay vineyard further south in Coombsville. The wines are richly textured with fine balancing acidity and are considered amongst the best of Napa.
