Il Palazzone

Although this great estate in Montalcino is owned by Richard Parsons, an American businessman, it feels authentically Italian! There are three small vineyards dotted around Montalcino which amount to under three hectares in total, and which are farmed following organic practice. In 2000, the estate decided to stop producing the ‘lesser’ Rosso di Montalcino to concentrate solely on Brunello. However, in each vintage there are some lots considered not good enough for, or not qualifying as, Brunello. These are used for a limited release multi- vintage blend, Il Palazzone, which has the character of Brunello, but in a less full bodied and powerful package.
