This cult Chardonnay producer was founded in 1978 by Steve Kistler and Mark Bixler and currently produces 11 single vineyard Chardonnays, plus Les Noisetiers, a Sonoma Coast blend, alongside a small amount of Pinot Noir. Jason Kesner joined Steve in the cellar in 2008, with Steve finally retiring after 40 vintages in 2017. Most of the wines come from their own vineyards, but a couple are made from long term contracts with renowned vineyards such as Hyde. The wines are all fermented with wild yeast and made with a great attention to detail with no expense spared. Whilst they have great ripeness and generosity, they also have a glorious freshness and balance.
