Maison Gelas

While the family traces its roots all the way back to 1246, it wasn’t until 1865 that Maison Gelas started to form. Guillaume Gélas, a respected barrel maker, bequeathed his business to his son Baptiste, who in turn established Maison Gelas as a producer of Armagnacs. Throughout the 20th century, the Maison acquired more vineyards, enabling them to showcase the individual regions and local terroirs—a concept that was fundamentally unique in the 1950s—which elevated Gelas’ reputation as one of the finest producers of Armagnac. Run by Phillippe, the fourth generation, Maison Gelas continues to produce some of the region’s finest spirits, showcasing single vintage, as well as single grape variety, spirits som of which datie back to the beginnings of the 20th century.
