Michter’s

Based in Louisville, Kentucky, Michter’s offers a range of highly acclaimed, super-premium Ryes, Bourbons, and American Whiskeys. The history of Michter’s traces back to 1753, when John Shenk, a Swiss Mennonite farmer, founded what would ultimately become known as the Michter’s Distillery in Schaefferstown, Pennsylvania. It wasn’t all plain sailing though. In 1989, with the American whiskey industry suffering from a prolonged downturn, Michter’s then-owners declared bankruptcy, abandoning the Distillery’s assets and trademarks. It was only revived when two whiskey lovers, Joseph J. Magliocco and Dick Newman, re-established Michter’s in Kentucky, the heart of the modern American whiskey industry. Today, Michter’s continues to go from strength to strength and is recognised internationally for its exceptional whiskey. In 2015 Michter’s became a Heritage Member of the Kentucky Distiller’s Association, the highest rank in the non-profit trade group that unites and leads the state’s distilled spirits industry.
