2008 Chateau Lafon Rochet, 4th Growth St. Estephe
Deep purple with brick notes, there are sweet aromas of crème de cassis intermixed with smoke, liquorice, and toasty new oak, a ripe, medium to full- bodied style, sweet tannin, and loads of flavour as well as depth.

Robert Parker Wine Advocate
A strong effort for this vintage, the 2008 exhibits a dark plum/purple color, plenty of firm, rugged, austere tannins, copious red and black fruits, admirable flavor intensity and medium body. Cellar it for 3-4 years and drink it over the following 15.

Vinous
The 2008 Lafon-Rochet has a well-defined bouquet with brambly black fruit, redcurrant, raspberry and light earthy scents. The nose is vivacious and fresh. The palate is medium-bodied, with firm tannins, fine acidity and plenty of cedar-infused red fruit mixed with sous-bois and tobacco. It’s assertive and nicely balanced towards the finish. This is the best bottle of 2008 that I have tasted from this property. Tasted at the Lafon-Rochet vertical at the property.

Vinous
Bright red-ruby. Aromas of mocha, nuts, leather and black olive, with dark berries in the background. Juicy and spicy in the mouth, with modest fat but good energy and cut to its dark cherry, cassis and herbal flavors. Boasts good intensity but finishes a bit tight, with substantial dusty tannins.
