Jancis Robinson

Touch of lime candy on the nose. Cream and curve and florals: wild yellow blossom, green melon, ripe pear, matcha latte, and very very gentle turmeric spice. Hint of ground ginger. Looking at my hastily typed notes, I see that I wrote, ‘I LOVE this! YUM YUM! Frittata!’ Not terribly eloquent, but I think you get the idea. It’s a crazily delicious wine with southern Rhône friendly warmth and richness, yet humming with freshness in every sip. Once again, a brilliant food wine (I’m thinking picnics – it’s a perfect match for buttercups, grass stains on your white shorts, sunburnt strap lines on shoulders, floppy hats, cold boiled eggs dipped in creamy home-made mayonnaise and a thick slice of cheesy quiche). VGV, especially at the summer discount. (TC)
