2019 Charmes Chambertin, Grand Cru Domaine Antonin Guyon
From a tiny 0.085 hectare parcel which produces one barrel on average. Located in the Charmes proper part of the Grand Cru. Hombeline Guyon was so keen to show us the Charmes in 2019 we skipped three wines and had to go back to re-taste! It’s easy to see why, this wine has come on significantly since 2015 and is the hidden gem of the domaine. Cherries, sous-bois, and sweet spices, with very well-judged oak and silky tannins. The only problem here is the tiny quantity, we have to convince ourselves we don’t like it quite so much!
