2019 Corton Charlemagne, Grand Cru, Domaine Antonin Guyon

A 0.85-hectare blend of two parcels, with one parcel on the Ladoix side and the majority of the blend coming from Le Charlemagne – close to Bonneau-du-Martray. Like their Clos du Roy, the domaine are using horses in Corton-Charlemagne to limit their impact on the terroir. Domaine Antonin Guyon make, in our opinion, one of the most classic expressions of the terroir, and certainly one of the best values. The Ladoix side adds freshness, tempering the orchard and stone fruits from Le Charlemagne. This wine really has found an extra gear in 2019, the balance of fruit, acidity and extract is wonderfully poised even at this early stage. This has everything you would seek in a Corton-Charlemagne.

Robert Parker Wine Advocate

The 2019 Corton-Charlemagne Grand Cru is excellent, unwinding in the glass with notes of pear, citrus zest, fresh bread, white flowers and hazelnuts. Medium to full-bodied, layered and concentrated, it’s elegantly muscular, with a satiny attack and a long, precise finish.
