2019 Old Bastard Shiraz, Kaesler
Kaesler's flagship Shiraz, and one of Australia's most collected, from gnarly old 'ancestor' vines planted over 125 years ago. Dark blackberry and blackcurrant fruit, with hints of chocolate and sweet spice. Full bodied, yet elegant. The brilliant 2019 vintage has delivered a timeless and generous Old Bastard. The perfectly balanced palate opens with an abundance of dark berries and tight chalky tannins with layers of mocha, coffee and chocolate. The finish is long and firm. Although this drinking well now, the tannins will continue to soften with age, and the berry notes will become more prominent over time.
