Labeled as a “Superiore,” this is a new submission from Amalia Cascina in Langa. The 2020 Barbera d’Alba Superiore opens to dark purple and hues of blue. From a hot vintage, the wine shows a ripe fruit character with cherry confit and baked blackberry. To the palate, it is rich and generous, owing much of that texture to the exuberant nature of this heat-loving variety.
