2020 Pierro Chardonnay, Margaret River, Western Australia
Rich straw coloured, the nose is lush and forward, with citrus, mandarin and oatmeal notes. Complex and multi layered, the palate shows fine texture, well judged oak and fabulous persistence.

2020 in Margaret River came on quickly, was marred by tiny yields and seemed to be over in the blink of an eye. The wines are turning out to be real superstars. The 2020 Chardonnay has a pineapple tension in the mouth: it is spicy and plush and comforting and great. It has softer edges than the 2018 tasted alongside.

Vinous
From one of Margaret River’s most historic producers comes this 2020 Chardonnay which at first seems a little simple but then in the glass builds delicious depth of fruit. Open knit aromas deliver ample quince and nectarine fruits with well integrated spicy oak. Over time nutty, praline complexity joins in. Explosive grapefruit and pithy flavours are then tightly focused and offer a tangy texture with impressive volume with a nice touch of cinnamon oak to finish. This wine demands time to show its best.
