Glenfarclas 25 Year Old Single Malt Whisky, 43% ABV (70CL)
Glenfarclas 25 Year Old is a classic Speysider, showing all the lovely sherry character we love from Glenfarclas. Although it spends all its life in Oloroso sherry casks, it is less of a sherry bomb than the 15 Year Old, which is a classic of the genre. Lots of classic Sherry notes on the nose--candied walnuts, smoked almonds--with a touch of menthol, orange marmalade and perhaps a hint of coffee grounds. Quite subtle. The palate is incredibly clean and balanced, yet rich and robust. Sherry and oak work beautifully together to produce a nice, little tang alongside the ginger bread, creamy barley, and bitter chocolate flavours. Very long finish.
